This course examines the evolution of architecture from Functionalism and Modernism to Postmodernism and contemporary practice. It explores the shift from ornament and academic tradition toward functionality and rational thinking, highlighting the principle “Form Follows Function.”

Students will learn the key concepts and vocabulary of 20th-century architecture while understanding its historical development and critical debates. The course also addresses today’s challenges, including digital technologies (CAD, BIM, parametric design, AI) and sustainability, encouraging students to reflect on architecture as a constantly evolving social, cultural, and technological practice.
